The "Cambridge Workshops of Cool Stars, Stellar Systems and the Sun" are held biennially and have evolved to be the premier conference series for cool star research.

Conference Venue

The Pierre Baudis Convention Centre hosts the meeting. It is located 11 Esplanade Compans Caffarelli in Toulouse, right next to Compans Caffarelli metro station.

Travel

Travel to Toulouse

Situated in the South-West of France, close to the Pyrénées mountains, Toulouse is a friendly and attractive town benefiting from the sunny and mild weather of southern France. It can be easily reached by plane through Toulouse-Blagnac international airport (IATA code: TLS) located at 10 km from Toulouse city centre.

Transport to the Conference Venue

Public transportation in Toulouse is provided by Tisseo (its website offers a journey planner with timetables for all bus, tramway and metro services in Toulouse). To reach the city centre from the airport, there are several options:

the airport shuttle ("navette aéroport"), which is a bus leaving outside the Terminal. A single ticket costs 8 euros and allows for connections. It can be purchased on board the bus by cash, or by automatic ticket dispensers located near the shuttle stop. There is also a Tisseo agency there to buy tickets at a counter. It takes about 15-20 minutes to reach the city centre, depending on traffic. The airport shuttle calls at Compans Caffarelli station (stop there for Pierre Baudis Convention Centre), Jeanne d’Arc station (metro line B), Jean Jaurès station (metro lines A and B) and terminates at Matabiau Station (train, metro line A).
the tramway line T2 also leaves outside the airport terminal. A single ticket costs 1.70 euros (it also allows for changes). It takes about 30 minutes to reach Palais de Justice station (metro line B). From Palais de Justice station, it takes an extra 5-10 minutes to get to Compans Cafferelli station via metro line B.
a taxi from the airport costs about 30 euros (no tip expected). Taxis prefer cash, but credit cards may be accepted.

Getting around in the city

As already mentioned above, public transportation in Toulouse is provided by Tisseo. The center of Toulouse is relatively small with many parks and pedestrian-friendly streets, so simply walking is often the best option to get around.

Lodging / Hotels

The conference venue is located in the city centre of Toulouse. Many hotels are available in this area and can be found with any search engine or travel agency. Here is one such platform.
